He was predeceased by: his parents, James Porter and Madeline Porter (Sawyer); and his sister Patricia Myers (Porter). He is survived by: his brother Randy Porter of Metcalf, Illinois.; his wife Jeanette Lucille Porter (Kincaid); his children, Sheryl Dalhaus (Butch) of St. Joseph, Illinois, Eric Porter (Davonne) of Champaign, Illinois, Neil Porter (Karyn) of Cornelius and Leanne Strange (David) of Hartland, Wisconsin.; his grandchildren, Blake Porter (Hilary), Rob Dalhaus (Jess), Bailie Moore (Logan), Audra Johnson (Devin), Gabrielle Porter, Elizabeth Strange, Jackson Porter, Jonathan Strange, Charlotte Porter, Aaron Strange and Anna Strange; and his great grandchildren, Emmett Dalhaus, Bridget Dalhaus, Arlo Porter, Isaac Dalhaus, Maverick Porter and Cooper Moore.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bible Baptist Church (4001 W Kirby Ave, Champaign, IL 61822). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites friends and loved ones to remember Ernie with a memorial contribution to Bible Baptist Church, 4001 W. Kirby Avenue, Champaign, IL. 61822 in support of the church Ernie loved so much.
