He is survived by: his wife Cathy; his children, Cat Purcell (Jareth), Melanie Schmidt (Bill) and Jim Mitchell (Nichole); his grandchild Coraline; his parents, Kent Mitchell and Marlene Mitchell; and his siblings, Doug (Karen), Chris (Angela) and Linda Cotner (Rich).

Donations may be made in his name to any United Methodist Church organization, the American Cancer Society, or the Boy Scouts of America (Prairie Lands Council).
