He is survived by: his wife Shirley Scholes of Charleston; his children, Steven Samuel Scholes (Lori) of Wheaton, John Gregory Scholes (Jan) of Charleston and Emily Ann Floyd of Charleston; his grandchildren, Caroline Elizabeth Eshelman (David), Steven Samuel Scholes Jr., Ann Grace Della Torre (Frank), Molly Ann Shoot (Logan), Joshua Matthew Meers (Savannah), John Gregory Scholes Jr. (Shelby), Jacob Washington Floyd and Emma Elizabeth Floyd; and his great grandchildren, Harper Kay Eshelman, Mae Elizabeth Eshelman, Frank Anthony Della Torre III, Steven Samuel Scholes III, Clay Matthew Meers, Heidi Sue Scholes, John Gregory Scholes III, Samuel Gene Della Torre, Jack Jones Della Torre and Logan Michael Wayne Shoot Jr..
