He was predeceased by: his parents, Ingvall Nelson and Estella Nelson (Retrum); his wife Arlene Rae Greisinger of Joseph's Catholic Church; his siblings, Knute Nelson (Esther), Herbert Nelson, Rolf Nelson (Claudia), Irene Halverson (Carl), Doris Willborn (Richard), Violet Dickinson (Dick) and Helen Jacobsen (Otis); his parents-in-law, Ray and Orella; and his siblings-in-law, Tim Greisinger, Ray "Bucky" Greisinger, Doug Frase and Nancy Greisinger.
He is survived by: his sons, Robert Nelson (Cheryl), David Nelson (Jo Ann) and Dennis Nelson (Jaye); his grandchildren, Nathan Nelson (Kayla), Jon Nelson, Alisha Grasso (Daanen), Ben Nelson, Triston Nelson (Paola), Jim Nelson (Stefanie), Jennifer Pelky (Forrest), Stephanie Nockerts (Eric), Brooke Roberts (Kyle) and Cody Roberts (Amanda); his great grandchildren, Serena, Jackson, Miles, Charley, Roman, Rhea, Troy, Pearl, Alyssa, Jordan, Ambrose, Neveah, Izzie, Millie, Eleanor, Lukas, Kaden, Mason, Vincent and Vyvian; his brother Gerald Nelson (Beverly); his sisters-in-law, Emma Jean Nelson, Marge Frase and Lynn Greisinger; and his close friends, Gregg and Julie Marweg. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A wake will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 6:00 PM at the Blaney Funeral Home & Cremation Services (1521 Shawano Ave, Green Bay, WI 54303). A Mass will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Jude Catholic Church (1420 Division St, Green Bay, WI 54303).
