He was predeceased by: his parents, James Lyle Sr. and Dorothy Montgomery (McKee); his son David Montgomery; his brother Tom Montgomery; and his half-sister Mary.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy E. Burdinsky; his daughter Cindy Hill of Chatham; his granddaughters, Diana Lovell (Matthew) of Chandlerville and Cheryl Hill (Steve Dalkamp) of Springfield; and his great grandchildren, James, Jonah, Luke, Eliana, Ana Lovell, Max and Caroline Schempp.
