He was predeceased by : his wife Eleanor; his son Robert Shine (Janet); his parents, Mary Ruth and William T. Shine II; and his siblings, William T Shine III (late Dorothy) and Mortimer "Mort" Shine (late Bernice).

He is survived by : his children, Patricia "Patti" Hayes (John) and Thomas Shine (Sherry); his grandchildren, Dr. John Ryan Hayes (Patricia "Patti"), Jennifer Hayes, Daniel Shine, Cayla Shine, Megan Shine, Matthew Shine and Connor Shine; and his great grandchildren, Holden Hayes and Elsie Hayes.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home (530 W 14th St, Chicago Heights, IL 60411). A Mass was held on Saturday, April 13th 2024 at 11:30 AM at the Our Lady of the Heights/St Kieran Church (724 195th St, Chicago Heights, IL 60411).
