He is survived by: his wife Imelda; his children, Jose Alberto Duarte, Imelda Duarte-Alvarez (Jorge), Irene Duarte-Thelen (Linc) and Abelardo Duarte (Magdalena); his grandchildren, Liahna and Lorenzo; and his siblings, Rodolfo, Javier, Roberto, Gustavo, Eucario and Irma. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
