It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bishop Timothy Bakakos of Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on November 20, 2025, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Demosthenes and Antonia; and his brother William (Althea). He is survived by: his brothers, Gregory D. Bakakos (Siree) and Michael D. Bakakos (Amy); his siblings' children, Christopher, Nicholas, Alex (Catherine), Stephanie (Dominick), Antonia (Christopher) and Timothy; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Arianna, Joshua, Anthony, Nikolas, Cameron and Luca.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 24th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Tuesday, November 25th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church (601 S Central Ave, Chicago, IL 60644). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 25th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, November 25th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Elmwood Cemetery (2905 Thatcher Ave, River Grove, IL 60171).
