Deb Bensema wrote a sympathy message

“I am going to miss grandpa very much. He truly was a great man. He always made sure to provide for his family and he did a great job with me and my children. He would take me fishing (he taught me how to bait and unhook my fish), to the air and boat show and on vacations with him during the summer. He took me to Kansas, Texas (to Carlsbad Caverns) and to New Mexico. While we would travel he loved to listen to his polish music. He knew that I wasn't into that music so just before one of our trips he bought me a walkman and a lot of batteries so I could listen to my music. I would take so many pictures on our trips but because I was a kid and didn't have the money Grandpa would get the pictures developed for me. Grandpa liked the computer and would use it to communicate with my uncle who lives down south. He enjoyed showing jokes he heard from his friends and other items on the computer with my children. He also shared the difficult road he had to take to come to America and all the hoops he had to jump through to make his wish come true. All the times he was there for me my favorite was sitting with him learning about his life in Poland and all the other stories he shared. Grandpa was loved widely and deeply by everyone who knew him. Although I understand that heaven has received another angel he will be missed so much. The children and I love you.”
