He was predeceased by: his parents, Dale Cardio and Marie Cardio (Anzell); and his sister Christina May (Ron). He is survived by: his wife Mary; his sons, Brian (Lois) and Sean (Marina Makropoulos); and his grandchildren, Valentina, Lana and Gianna.
