He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Kathleen Poelsterl and Joseph Poelsterl; his wife Margaret "Peggy" (Barrett); his children, Cathy Simonson (Luke), Joe (Cassidy), Mike (Monika), Krissi and Mattie; his brothers, James and Steven Poelsterl; and his grandchildren, Mary, Luke, Hannah, Robert, Gwendolyn, Genevieve, Jack, Amelia, Michael, Joey, Charlotte, Bridgette and Violette. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
