It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lois Joanne Sakkas in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on June 3, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Lois Joanne Sakkas to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Mildred Oie (Bunnell) and John Oie; her son John; her husband Taki; and her sister Alice.
She is survived by: her children, Kalliopi Schneider (Warren), Michael Sakkas (Anita), Dianna Scaccia and Corinna Laimeche (Sofiane); her grandchildren, John, Peter (Abbigail), Theodore Schneider, Jeremy (Miranda), Joshua Sakkas, Elena, Sophia Scaccia, Yasmine Haley, Omar, Baya and Zakaria Laimeche; and her sister Kay Hellem (Keith). She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and treasured friends.
Lois was a warm and welcoming presence, especially to newcomers in the church community, and kept in touch faithfully with members of her church family, especially during the isolating days of the pandemic.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Holy Trinity Cathedral Philoptochos St. Katherine Chapter.
