We announce the death of Louis A. Velez of Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on October 14, 2026, at the age of 75. Louis will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Amelia Rodriguez Carrasquillo and Luis Velez; and his sister Rose A. Velez. He is survived by: his wife Rita Velez; his sons, Christopher, Mark (Jen) and David (Scarlett); his grandchildren, Victoria and Vincent; his siblings, Robert (Maria), Irma (Tony), Ralph (Myra), Jorge, Priscilla (Joe), Maria (Tino) and Adrian; Carmelo. He is also survived by mother's husband.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Burns Kish Funeral Home (8415 Calumet Ave, Munster, IN 46321). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Annunciata Church (11128 S Ave G, Chicago, IL 60617).
