She was predeceased by: her parents, Theresa Petronio and Louis Petronio; her husband Michael Martin; her son Sean Martin; and her sisters, Adeline Aprati (Nick) and Lois Palcek.
She is survived by: her daughter Shelley Cline; her granddaughter Bailey Cline; her family, Jason and Jacki Cockrum; Jonathan, Jack, Julia and Joseph.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Peotone United Methodist Church (105 N West St, Peotone, IL 60468). Retirement did not keep Sharon away from the classroom for long, as she continued to substitute teach for another 19 years, until the COVID-19 pandemic.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who knew Sharon remember her by spending time with the people they love, sharing a meal, playing a game of cards, or simply carrying forward the kindness and warmth she shared with others.
