He was predeceased by: his spouse Antonieta Chevalier-Calero; his sister Elsa; and his parents, Eugenio and Tomasa. He is survived by: his children, Gustavo (Karyn) and Diana Kunda (Nicholas); his grandchildren, Alyssa, Christian, Madeleine, Nicholas and Vincent; and his brothers, Carlos (Violeta) and Julio.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home (6150 N Cicero Ave, Chicago, IL 60646). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the same location. A Mass will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Queen of All Saints Basilica (6280 N Sauganash Ave, Chicago, IL 60646). A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the All Saints Catholic Cemetery (700 N River Rd, Des Plaines, IL 60016).
