He was predeceased by: his parents, Owen Smith and Elsie Smith (Hickenbottom); his brothers, Marvin Smith, Max Smith and Kelly Smith; and his siblings-in-law, Bill Simpson, Ervin Simpson, Evelyn Byrge and Diana West.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ruth; his daughter Pamela; his son-in-law Leonard Trapane III of Jacksonville, FL; his grandchildren, Autumn Parks (Kevin) of Cheyene, WY, Courtney Bayles of Lacey, WA, Lenny Trapane of Cedar Rapids, IA, Elena Simawe (Aran) of Coralville, IA and Tisa Plotner of Jacksonville, FL; his great grandchildren, Payton, Sadie Parks, Ethan and Oakleigh Bayles; his brothers, Karel Smith (Gladys) and Lex Smith (Judy); and his siblings-in-law, Joselene Smith, K. D. Simpson (Shirley), Lester Simpson, Eleanor Venable, Karen Singleterry and Trudy Simpson (Victor). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations made to SSM Health Foundation with a note to go to the Palliative Care Service, or your favorite local charity, to help those in need.
