He was predeceased by: his parents, Belton Thompson and Juanita Thompson (Merchant); and his brothers, Bill Thompson, Bobby Thompson and Jerry Thompson.

He is survived by: his wife Linda; his children, Darrin Thompson (Trina Thomas) of Coal Valley and Doug Thompson (Denise) of Coal Valley; his grandchildren, Brandon Thompson, Kayla Thompson, Jacob Thompson and Devin Thompson; and his great grandchildren, Jaida Thompson, Aaliyah Casto, Landon Casto, Connor Thompson and Isaac Thompson.
