He is survived by: his wife Loretta Joan Thayer (Buttrey); his children, David Thayer, Laura Anderson (Thayer) and Steven Thayer; his grandchildren, Ashlynn Cady (Anthony Cady), Brandon Thayer and Izabella Thayer; his great grandchildren, Abel Cady, Rachel Cady and Rebekah Cady; his nephew Brian Courtwright; and his niece Leah Courtwright.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 19th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Lake View Funeral Home (5000 N Illinois St, Fairview Heights, IL 62208). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 11:45 AM at the Lake View Memorial Gardens (5000 N Illinois St, Fairview Heights, IL 62208).
