Robert A. Smolich Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert A. Smolich of Crest Hill, Illinois, born in Joliet, Illinois, who passed away on June 12, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Anton Smolich and Mary Smolich (Nee Spreitzer); his sister Joann Smolich; and his son-in-law Marshal Gibson. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Smolich (Nee Strahanoski); his daughters, Phyllis Ringo (Jay) of Joliet, Mary Gibson (late Marshal) of Algonquin, IL and Annette Gilmer (Preston) of Delano, MN; his grandchildren, Samantha, Carly, Michelle Ringo, Erik, Luke, Connor Gibson (Justine), Dylan (Emma) and Cole Gilmer (Kaitlyn); his great grandchildren, Hatten and Nash Gilmer; and his brothers, Richard, James (Lynn), Raymond (Arlene) and Charles Smolich (Janet). He is also survived by family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel (1105 E 9th St, Lockport, IL 60441). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the O'Neil Funeral Home (1105 E 9th St, Lockport, IL 60441).
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lightways Hospice in Robert's name would be greatly appreciated.
