She was predeceased by: her parents, Carroll Bordner and Ella Mae Bordner; her husband Bill; and her sister-in-law Beth Anderson (Howie). She is survived by: her children, Bil (Char) of McHenry, Tom of Woodstock and Sheryl of Crystal Lake; and her grandchildren, Danielle and Paul Colomer (Ashley Rood).

Carolyn wanted any memorials to be made in her name to Northwestern Memorial Foundation or Saint Jude Children's Hospital.
