As Joan departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Joan may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Joan leaves behind.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Dr. John Urbas and Alberta Urbas (Czapski); and her sister Martha "Nan" Urbas. She is survived by: her siblings, Tracy Hill (Urbas) and John V. Urbas; her former husband Howard H. Goble of Mary's Church; her daughter Leslie Balsamello (John); her close friends, Tom Nier (Randy), Nora Greene and Marcia Hyche; and her grandson Legend Watson. She is also survived by her best friend and part of her family.
She served as a nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 33 years and then went on to serve at Pleasant Meadows in Chrisman, IL on the Alzheimer's unit for another 6 and a half years.
