He was predeceased by: his parents, Eleanor Cuthrell and Mark Cuthrell; his in-laws, Pearl and Dennis Couch; his siblings, Thomas Cuthrell and Margaret; and his brother-in-law Dale Bjorkland.

He is survived by: his wife Janet Cuthrell (Couch); his daughter Patty (Cuthrell); his son-in-law Danny Smelcer; his grandchildren, Cassidy Smelcer and Brandon Smelcer; and his siblings-in-law, Terri Craig (Scott), Beverly Couch, Nancy Couch, Dennis, Larry, Fred Couch and Judy Tyler.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Danville National Cemetery (1900 E Main St, Danville, IL 61832).
