He was predeceased by: his wife Mary E. Holbrook; his son Detrius Holbrook; his son-in-law Horace McDonald Sr.; his parents, Samuel Holbrook Sr. and Ludie M. Holbrook; his brothers-in-law, Lonnie James Gardner, James A. Petty Sr., Ivan Miller and Thomas Rose Sr.; and his sisters, Glendora Holbrook, Costella Holbrook, Callie Miller and Yvonne "Molly" Rodgers.
He is survived by: his children, Carl Holbrook (Carolyn), Kobi Holbrook (Lakeisha), Roshuna H. Bland (Dante) and Kenya H. McDonald; his daughter-in-law Patsy Holbrook; his sister Norma J. Gardner; his sisters-in-law, Tillar Petty and Ida Petty; and his grandchildren, Horace McDonald Jr., Evan Holbrook (Christine), Antonio Mitchell, Tasheik McDonald, Kobi Holbrook Jr., Paris Holbrook, Shai Holbrook, Jaiden Bland, Kiersten Holbrook and Kelise Holbrook. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church (311 N Collett St, Danville, IL 61832). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Danville National Cemetery (1900 E Main St, Danville, IL 61832).
