It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shirley Smoot of Danville, Illinois, who passed away on January 2, 2023, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Frederick John and Mabel Maxine Massey; her husbands, John and Richard R. Smoot of Tilton; her stepson Richard C. Smoot (Debbie) of Westville; and her stepgranddaughter April Smoot.
She is survived by: her grandchildren, Cathy Zimmer (Eric), Lindsey Card (Larry Jr.) of Danville, Trisha Kendra (Adam), Melissa Lavigne (Tommy) and Brandon Szilagyi (Stephanie); her great grandchildren, Gage, Stella Zimmer, Landyn, Livia Card, Bristol Kendra, Stella Mae, Haylee Lavigne, Caylen, Chance and Ryleigh Szilagyi; her stepson John C. Smoot (Terri) of Tilton; her stepgrandsons, Kyle Smoot (Sherri) and Kenny Smoot (Kala); and her stepgreat-grandchildren, Rayna and Richard L. Smoot.
Because of her love of horses, children, and faith, memorials are requested to Hooves of Hope / Gateway Family Services Potomac, or Second Church of Christ.
