He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Shoemaker and Beverly Shoemaker; and his adoptive parents, Richard Kerwin and Elsie Jane Kerwin. He is survived by: his wife Virginia "Ginny" Kerwin of Decatur, IL; his children, Elizabeth Vogt (Brian) of Petersburg, IL and Brandon Kerwin (Jasmyne) of Green Bay, WI; his grandchildren, Evelyn Vogt and Daniel Kerwin; his brother David Murray Kerwin (Jan) of Springfield, IL; his stepsister Lorna Spencer (Darren) of Broken Arrow, OK; his sibling's children, Charlie Kerwin (Kimberly) of Rochester, IL, Sean Kerwin (Emily) of Peoria, IL, Danny Kerwin (Ashlee Franken) of Peoria, IL, Anne Nation (Nick) of Springfield, IL, Callie Spencer of Tulsa, OK and Clarke Spencer of Tulsa, OK; and his close friends, Chris Clifton, Rick Davis, Randy Bishop, Sue Adkins and Mike Goode.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home - Decatur (2827 N Oakland Ave, Decatur, IL 62526). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Chuck's honor be made to the Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County.
