With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Deacon Harvey E. Works Sr. of Decatur, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 16, 2025 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his son Harvey Jr. (Billie Sue Works); and his grandson Darrell Works Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Gloria Works; his children, Darrell Works (Robin), Stephanie Works, Pamela Helm (Hassan), Kendra Patterson, Jr. and Bond; his sister Genevieve Adams (David); his sister-in-law Ethel Works; his aunt Dollie Banks; his close friends, Johnnie Ricks and Pat Dawson; Kyler Works, Raevn Works, Damien Law, Darius Newbern (Ravon), Olivia Hodges, Tahja Works, Ciara Wilder, Keemyia Works, Brylan Helm (Alison), Breyanna Helm, Darien Patterson Jr. and Karrine Patterson. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 25th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church (1720 W Hunt St, Decatur, IL 62526). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 25th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 27th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Camp Butler National Cemetery (5063 Camp Butler Rd, Springfield, IL 62707).
