Though Dorthy may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Dorthy touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Archie Lester Wood and Sylvia Grace Nees; her husband Robert Lewis Shookman; and her son Brian Keith Shookman. She is survived by: her sons, Dennis Robert Shookman (Kathy Capizzi-Shookman) of Washington, IL and Lewis Alan Shookman of Decatur, IL.; and her sister Nina Viehman of Buffalo Grove, IL.. She is also survived by five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Et Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home (2091 N Oakland Ave, Decatur, IL 62526). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.
