He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Rubin and Ella Rubin. He is survived by: his children, Amy Lakin of Springfield, IL, Amanda Hurt (Sterling), Candace Leamon of Decatur and William Leamon of Decatur; his grandchildren, Jake, Julia Lakin, Dalton Squires, Dalton Harrison, Lilliana Hurt, Aron, Aric Drake and Zaiden Brewer; his siblings, Betty Lyon of Mt. Pulaski and Shirley Fairbanks of Decatur; his son Andrew Rubin; his wife Theresa Rubin; his brothers, Leroy and Lavern Rubin; his nephew Jeffery Rubin; and his granddaughter Paisley Starr Hurt. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be made to St. John's Lutheran Church in Decatur or Vonderlieth Living Center in Mt. Pulaski.
