He was predeceased by: his son Harvey Jr. (Billie Sue Works); and his grandson Darrell Works Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Gloria Works; his children, Darrell Works (Robin), Stephanie Works, Pamela Helm (Hassan), Kendra Patterson, Jr. and Bond; his sister Genevieve Adams (David); his sister-in-law Ethel Works; his aunt Dollie Banks; his grandchildren, Kyler Works, Raevn Works, Damien Law, Darius Newbern (Ravon), Olivia Hodges, Tahja Works, Ciara Wilder, Keemyia Works, Brylan Helm (Alison), Breyanna Helm, Darien Patterson Jr. and Karrine Patterson; and his close friends, Johnnie Ricks and Pat Dawson. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 25th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church (1720 W Hunt St, Decatur, IL 62526). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 25th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 27th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Camp Butler National Cemetery (5063 Camp Butler Rd, Springfield, IL 62707).
