We announce the death of Jack E. Powell of Decatur, Illinois, who passed away on September 9, 2026, at the age of 90. Jack will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Levi and Ruby Elizabeth Powel (Bolyard); his son Andrew Powel; and his brother Jim Powel. He is survived by: his wife Anna C. Lowe; his daughters, Diana Sheppard (Bill) of Davis, IL, Gayle Wright (Jim) and Connie Powel of Springfield, IL; his grandchildren, Dayne Fuiten (Susie), Kenna Garnica (Steve), Britton Fuiten (Lynnette) and Andrew Fuiten; his close friend Amanda Eilers; his great grandchildren, Silas Garnica, Audrina Garnica, Vayda Fuiten and River Fuiten; his sister Mary Ann Krueger (Floyd); and his sister-in-law Sandy Powel.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Tabernacle Baptist Church (650 N Wyckles Rd, Decatur, IL 62526). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at the Graceland Cemetery (2091 N Oakland Ave, Decatur, IL 62526).
Memorials in Jack's honor may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church.
