He was predeceased by: his parents, Irvin L. Ellis and C. Fayette Ellis (Dickinson); his daughter Jennifer Sue; his sisters, Roberta York and Marjorie Brown; and his close friend Sir Raleigh.

He is survived by: his wife S. Edwina "Winnie" Morris of Decatur; and his children, Craig Ellis, Todd Ellis (Christina) of Decatur and Jami Suthard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Antioch Christian Church.
