We bid farewell to John Keleman Szajko of Decatur, Illinois, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on August 7, 2025 at the age of 73. John touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Szajko and Catherine Szajko (Bond); his wife Anita Stroud; his children, John K. Szajko, Jr. (Darcy) of Decatur, IL and Kristi Garner (Jason) of Lorena, TX; his stepson Kelly Shirley of Champaign, IL; and his grandchildren, Izsak Szajko, Zayden Szajko, Sydney Garner and Jesse Garner (Rhianna).

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to American Legion Post #117 or a Veterans organization of their choice.

“Dear Anita, Kitty and family, We send our deepest sympathy on your loss. Although, it was along time ago, I have very fond memories of spending time with John. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Sally-Anne, Debbie, Robson and Cindy - Bond family cousins from Australia.”
