He is survived by: his father James Donnel; his wife Marsha Donnel (Workman) of Decatur, IL; his sons, Michael James Donnel (Angelica) of Decatur, IL and Dirk Alan Donnel of San Francisco, CA; his grandchildren, Caitlin Trent, Carson Donnel and Kendyl Donnel; and his great grandchildren, Macklin and Baker.

Memorials may be made in his name to the Drag Racing Association of Women (DRAW) and Meals on Wheels in Macon County.
