Lavern John left this world on August 17, 2024 at the age of 93, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Rubin and Ella Rubin (Bergman); his brother Leroy Rubin; his stepdaughter Kimberly Smith; and his grandsons, Joseph and Jason Rhodes.

He is survived by: his wife Wanda Rubin; his siblings, Betty Lyon, Shirley Fairbanks and Floyd Rubin; and his daughters, Connie Golladay, Carolyn Greve and Pam Vandenburg (Harvey). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church.

“Dear Wanda, Pam, and family, I’m so sorry to hear about Mr. Rubin’s passing. I just heard about it yesterday when I asked Connie, your old neighbor. He had been on my mind for a while, but my mom had been ill with Alzheimer’s the last three years, and she passed in February. She thought so much of Wanda and Laverne, as did I. I have such great memories of Pam and me playing together. I hope you’re all doing well. Sending you my deepest condolences. Love, Renee Hunt- Wilson on W. Waggoner St.”
