He was predeceased by: his parents, R. Earl Thicksten and Vora Thicksten (Lawrence); his brothers, Ronald and Roger; and his siblings-in-law, Barbara, Millie and Delano Hagin.

He is survived by: his wife Sally Thicksten; his children, David Thicksten of Decatur, IL, Larry Thicksten (Janet) of Decatur, IL and Karen Kitchell (Rick) of O'Fallon, IL; and his siblings, Darrell of Oklahoma and Doris Hagin of Arizona. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Central Christian Church (650 W William St, Decatur, IL 62522). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
