He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnnie Johnson and Ora Lee Johnson; his brothers, Lennie Johnson, Johnnie Johnson and Robert Johnson; his siblings-in-law, John Clemmons, L. C. Richardson, Freddie Joyner and Denise Johnson; his uncles, Oscar and Augusta; and his grandmother Salonia Williams.

He is survived by: his siblings, Virgie Clemmons, Flossie Richardson, Dorthy Joyner, Betty Jean Johnson and Rev. William Johnson (Melva); his children, Maurice Johnson of Decatur and Chris Johnson (Ada) of Hanover, MD; his grandchildren, Durames Johnson and Danielle Brown; his aunts, Catherine of Denver, CO, Luella of Denver, CO and Laverie of West Memphis, AK; his sister-in-law Maxine Johnson; and his close friend Wilbert Blue. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
