She was predeceased by: her parents, Bernard H. Brink and Laverne Brink (Bloomfield); her husband Leo H. Higar Jr.; and her brother-in-law Paul Higar. She is survived by: her children, Stephen Higar (Missy) of Decatur, Lois Durbin (Tom) of Decatur, Cathy Ater (Tim) of Oakley and Diana Bolt (Richard) of Decatur; her sisters, Bernadine Medley of Bloomington and Marilyn Speagle of Decatur; and her siblings-in-law, Carl Higar (Sandra) of Texas and Jean Higar of Mt. Zion. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren.
A vigil service will be held on Sunday, October 11th 2026 at 4:30 PM at the Moran and Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services (2801 N Monroe St, Decatur, IL 62526). Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. James Catholic Church (725 E Clay St, Decatur, IL 62521). A burial will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at the Boiling Springs Cemetery (2418 Boiling Springs Rd, Decatur, IL 62524).
