He was predeceased by: his parents, Jonas Kater and Goldie Kater; his wife Helen; his son Mark; and his brothers, Lloyd, Glen Earl, Keith and Jim.
He is survived by: his siblings, Jerry Kater (Marilyn) and Lola Huggins (Larry); and his sons, T. J. Kater (Doris), Daniel Kater and Matthew Kater (Susan). He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
