He was predeceased by: his parents, L. G. Reed Sr. and Callie Mae Reed; his brother Alvin "Thomas" Reed; his daughter Tennille Barbee; and his grandchildren, Tonniece Barbee and Tre'Vonse Reed.

He is survived by: his sons, Anthony Reed of Decatur, IL and Marvin Reed of Chicago, IL; his siblings, Willetta Leaks of Decatur, IL, Maxzine Holliday (Melvin) of Killeen, TX, Cozetta Mabon (William) of Decatur, IL, Barbara Bailey (Charles) of Louisville, KY and Harvey Reed (Sharon) of Little Rock, AR.; and his close friend Hazel Reed. He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
