He was predeceased by: his parents, Harley A McKinley and Minnie McKinley; and his siblings, William, David, Lowell and Helen.

He is survived by: his wife Doris; his children, Michelle Peterson (Chris) of Decatur and Michael of St. Louis; his grandchildren, Andrew Peterson and Megan Peterson; and his sisters, Bonnie Pope and Rue Copeland of Mt. Pulaski.
