He is survived by: his mother Kathy Borntreger (Strachan) of Decatur; his sister Michelle Gillespie (James) of Decatur; his stepsisters, Linda Kauzlarich and Diana Kauzlarich; and his nieces, Megan BeDell (Ryland) and Marshawna Jackson.

Memorials may be directed to Central Christian Church in Decatur.
