She was predeceased by: her parents, Claude Heathcock and Beatrice Heathcock (Cooper); her husband L. James Hunk; and her daughter Laura Diane. She is survived by: her son Todd Hunk (Susan) of Decatur; her grandchildren, Josh Hunk, Kaitlin Hunk and Sophia Hunk; and her sisters, Beverly Reeves of Colorado, Lana Ekiss of St. Louis, MO and Stephanie Hammond (Chuck) of Canton, IL..

A prayer will be held on Thursday, June 19th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Calvert & Wikoff Funeral Home (105 W Main St, Mt Zion, IL 62549). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, June 20th 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the St Patrick Catholic Church (407 E Eldorado St, Decatur, IL 62523).

Memorials may be made in Shirley's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
