It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Stephen Earl Mitchell of Decatur, Illinois, born in Shelbyville, Indiana, who passed away on March 31, 2024, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, R. Earl Mitchell and Martha Hinshaw Mitchell; his children, Dr. Jon Mitchell of Aberdeen, SD, Stephanie Cruse of Decatur, IL, Amy Brown (Jeffrey) and Tara Foster (Scott) of Overland Park, KS; and his grandchildren, Marshall, Walker Brown, Stephen, Joshua Cruse, Simon and Elyse Foster.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church Decatur, Illinois.
