He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Raymond Durkee and Doris Durkee; his wife Kay; his son David Durkee (Libby) of Decatur; his grandchildren, Nathaniel, Oliver, Preston, Victoria and Willa Durkee; his sisters, Nancy Huey and Pam Betts; his nieces, Tracy Cook, Jaime Davey and Jamie Lyon; his nephew Jeff Congleton; and his goddaughter Sophia Congleton.

Visitation was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service (2442 IL-121, Decatur, IL 62526). A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (3950 Lourdes Dr, Decatur, IL 62526).
