He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Vanderlaan and Mary Ellen Vanderlaan (Smith); his siblings, Ronnie Vanderlaan, Betty Burke and Mary Stuber; his daughter-in-law Laura Vanderlaan; and his granddaughter Erin Collins.

He is survived by: his children, Tammy J. "TJ" Vanderlaan-Wells (Paul), Greg Vanderlaan (Connie) and Kevin Vanderlaan (Christie); his grandchildren, Trevor Petro, Andria Sapp, Kyle Petrucha, Brandi Vanderlaan, Sarah McLain, McKinzy Vanderlaan, Isaac Vanderlaan, Brianna Nicholson, Veronica Keatts, Chastine Winkler, Nathaniel Woods and Gabriel Vanderlaan; and his brothers, Roger and Fred Vanderlaan. He is also survived by nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
