With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Edwin Friestad of DeKalb, Illinois, who passed away on June 1, 2024 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jon Friestad and Johanna Friestad (Lingdanger); his wife Rita Anne Hart; his siblings, Selma, Alma, Vina Verna, Syvia, Marion LeRoy, Richard, John and Russell; his in-laws, Cleo, James P (Bette), Jerome, Irene Johnson (Owen) and Leigh Thurston; his grandson Andrew Friestad; and his grandson-in-law Casey Wise.
He is survived by: his children, Michael (Gloria), Mary Rita Nelson (Reuben), James (Eileen), John and Janet (late Leigh); his grandchildren, Edwin Nelson (Natalie), Erica Wise (late Casey), Robert (Meagan), Jennifer Gutierrez and Anna Thurston (Steve Quan); his great grandchildren, William Kane, Henry Nelson, Han Wise, Isabelle, Ava Quan, Elena and Ethan Gutierrez; and his siblings-in-law, John D Hart (Anne) and Edie Hart (Jerome).
