He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph E. Walter and Lucille Walter (Faivre); his brother Michael Walter (Dianne); his brother-in-law James Barr; and his son-in-law Todd Yopst.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane (Umbdenstock); his daughters, Anne Balsley (Pat), Marcia Wessels (Steve), Barb Bolander (Glenn), Mary Kay Biernacki (Mark), Debbie Boesche (Rick) and Janice Benson (Chuck); and his siblings, Mary Lou Strack (Jeff), Janet Barr (late James), Richard Walter, Bill Walter (Jo), Jim Walter (Sue) and Paul Walter (Lisa). He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary's School in DeKalb, Illinois.
