We bid farewell to Joyce Nelson of DeKalb, Illinois, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on May 13, 2026 at the age of 101. Joyce touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ray Johnson and Myrtle Johnson (Swanbum); her husband Robert W. Nelson (Bob); her close friend Fred Utroska; and her daughter-in-law Janet Nelson.
She is survived by: her son Ray Nelson; her granddaughters, Andria Norkiewicz (Dave) and Julie Benson (Brad); and her great grandchildren, Natalie, Jack, Josh Norkiewicz, Nolan, Leah and Nora Benson.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home (1405 Dekalb Ave, Sycamore, IL 60178). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 19th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the First Lutheran Church (324 N 3rd St, DeKalb, IL 60115).
