He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph and Blanche Schaeffer (Swenson); and his sister Lois Huffaker. He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou Schaeffer (Nelson) of DeKalb; his sons, Brian Schaeffer of DeKalb and Mark Schaeffer (Sue) of Hudson, WI; his grandchildren, Jessica Knutson (Michael), Zachary Schaeffer and Erin Benham (Nathan); and his great grandchild Otto Knutson.
