He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Nelson and Gloria Nelson (Williams). He is survived by: his wife Mary Rita of Mary's Church; his children, Edwin (Natalie) and Erica Wise (late Casey); his stepsons, Brian and Josh Balli; his grandchildren, William Kane, Henry Nelson, Ettienne Balli and 'Han' Wise; his brother Ray (Robin); his cousin Eric Nelson (Kathy); and his in-laws, Mike, Jim, John Friestad and Dr. Janet Thurston.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Kishwaukee YMCA in his name.
